Malta offers a residency by investment program, known as the Malta Residence and Visa Program (MRVP), which allows foreign nationals to obtain a residency permit by investing in the country.
The investment requirements for the MRVP include a contribution to the National Development and Social Fund (NDSF) of at least EUR 68,000, as well as an investment in government-approved financial instruments of at least EUR 150,000. Additionally, the applicant must rent or purchase property in Malta.
These Citizenship by investment (CBI) programs allow individuals to acquire citizenship in a country by making an investment in the country’s economy. The investment can take various forms, such as a real estate purchase, a donation to a government fund, or a business investment.
